Meet artist Lucien Downes as we explore his motivations. He shares his journey to Art and the innovative methods he used to create his masterpieces.
Lucien Downes is a contemporary, abstract, figurative, artist. that demonstrates freedom of thought and expression through mixed media. His works are composed of spiritual and worldly elements that function independently at times or merge to encompass a whole. Lucien utilizes resin, acrylic, fibers, raw pigments, plexiglass, and sometimes found objects, to create his pieces.
On a more personal side, I’m always impressed with Lucien as a mentor to fellow young artists. As one of his projects dear to his heart, he curates “New Blood” which gives up and coming artists a place to show their work. Giving young artists exposure as well as learning the business end of having their work shown in a gallery. He remembers the days he hustled, learning by trial and error, and how he had to get creative to make a name for himself. Bravo Lucien!
In the month of April, Lucien has pushed the boundaries again by participating in three Art shows on all three islands in one month.
